FAQs

How Does The Rise Up Work?

We have two different positions; officers and representatives. Officers have to complete all mandatory work, attend all meetings, and have the first option to join for in person activities such as drives, volunteering, and so on. They also gain volunteer hours for all work, and repercussions if they fail to complete mandatory work. Our officer teams have a cap of 20, but we do not have a cap on the number of representatives. Our representatives share our projects, and are not required to attend all meetings. They will not gain volunteer hours for posting on social media, but they do have the option to come in for officer projects that are low on people. In these instances, representatives will gain volunteer hours. In general, being a representative is a way for students to help the cause while not committing to the large time constraint and work that being an officer requires. Outstanding work will always be recognized and awarded, and our team system is always open to change!

What projects will Rise Up be conducting?

We are currently working on providing storefront donation drop offs in locations that will be disclosed soon. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are waiting further approval and overseeing the situation to guarantee the safety of our officers and those donating. For now, donating an item/items is the best way to support us! If you'd like to drop off an item donation, please buy from the links below and email us so we can coordinate a contactless drop off!

I am interested in starting a branch in my state. What should I do?

If you would like to start a branch, there are a couple of requirements. First, you must be willing to take a leadership role and communicate well with our home team. Second, you must be able to garner officers and representatives, and be in charge of coordinating events with them. Third, you must be willing to mirror what we are doing in Seattle and do the same events that we do. Email us for any questions or if you'd like to start a chapter! Email: seattleriseup@gmail.com

As a student representative, what are my responsibilities?

Our Officers are an extension of our main team. Each week, we all focus on one task that we may need to complete, and the representatives will complete a portion of it. For example, if we need posts for our instagram, each representative will make one post and turn it in. The workload will be from 10 minutes to 30 minutes per week. This is the basic idea, any questions at all, DM or email us!

Where are most projects located?

Our main branch in Seattle will be conducting events mainly in the Puget Sound area. However, we are in the midst of opening new branches in different states, one being Chicago. If you are a resident of Illinois, and are interested in joining, head over to the Chicago Rise Up website and fill out the application!
